Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day, everyone!  We celebrated at the Torii festival on Saturday.  Huge, American-style hamburgers were on the menu for lunch.  I made it through half of mine (about the same amount as a normal-sized hamburger would be) before deferring to my wonderful hubby.

The festival started at noon, but we were two of a very limited number of attendees at lunchtime.  Lots of people out enjoying the beach, though.  We imagine that the numbers increased significantly towards dinnertime and especially for the fireworks.

They were having a Harley contest while we were there.  It was fun to see the bikes with the gorgeous East China Sea as a backdrop.

There were also a bunch of kite surfers out enjoying the beautiful, albeit humid, weather.  We were very grateful for the strong sea breeze.

I think the kite surfers were very grateful for the strong breeze, too.

We were surprised at how much height some of them could get!

Looks like a lot of fun!  Maybe something we'll have to check out sometime while we're here.

We hope you all have a very happy, safe 4th of July!
